Cornwall Square Covid-19 update, May 25, 2020
As of Friday June 12, 2020, the Cornwall Square had the ability to allow its stores to reopen to the public under certain Covid-19 rules established by the Eastern Ontario Health Unit regarding 1) Physical distancing, 2) Area sanitizing and 3) Customer lingering measures. That is why we, at the Cornwall Square have introduced new protocols to minimize customer interaction in our common areas while our retail stores have also introduced measures advocated by he Eastern Ontario Health Unit to combat the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
The Cornwall Square has reopened its upper level access from the parking garage as an additional point of access to the interior mall. We have introduced a one-way customer traffic pattern clearly marked by white arrows within a red circle affixed to the floor. The northside mall is one-way from Dollarama to Continental on the main level and from Continental to Dollarama on the southside mall. On the upper level, it is one-way from the Food Court to Urban Planet on the northside mall while the southside mall is one-way from Urban Planet to the Food Court and marked by the white arrows in the red circles affixed to the floor. We have created “Customer waiting lanes clearly marked with red and white tape stuck to the floor and divided into 6 foot by 3-foot segments. These customer waiting lanes are for customers to wait until they can be admitted into the store they want to shop at if the store is at its customer capacity. We have adopted the same process for our Food Court where Customer order lanes have been taped on the floor and access points indicated by individual signage.
In order to meet the requirements of discouraging customers from lingering, we have removed all of our park benches from the interior of the mall. We have also removed all of our Food Court seating as mandated by the Eastern Ontario Health Unit. Our maintenance personnel carry out regular cleaning and sanitizing frequently used and touched surfaces in the mall. You will also see additional signage promoting physical distancing.
Most of our retail stores are open to serve you, their customer. Some of our stores have not yet reopened for business as they prepare to take and install the necessary distancing measures to reopen for business. The following tenants have not yet opened, Peoples Jewelers, TD Bank, Master Cuts, Maritime Travel, Koodo, Wireless Wave on the main level and on the upper level, Telus, David’s Tea, Virgin Mobile kiosk and A & W in the Food Court. Speaking of the Food Court, it continues to be on a Take-Out basis only, no eating in the Food Court or common areas. These stores will open in the near future as they resolve their in-store Covid-19 preventative measures. We wish them well in finalizing the measures required to meet the Eastern Ontario Health Unit regulations.
The Cornwall Square Mall is a strong supporter of the physical distancing principle, the wearing of masks by customers and the use of our hand sanitizing stations located throughout the mall.
Please note that certain of the stores that are currently open at the Cornwall Square Mall operate different hours than the posted mall hours. Additional stores may open as the Covid-19 retail closure hours are amended by the relevant authorities.
Keep well, be safe, practice physical distancing, wear a mask and wash your hands often and sanitize them.
